Afraid of needles?

Many people find that once they experience acupuncture, the experience is nothing like having an injection or being needled for the purposes of giving blood. However, for sensitive cases, including small children, there is no need to use needles in a treatment. Other tools can be used to activate the meridians and stimulate the acupressure points without penetrating the skin, while achieving the same benefits.

As a Naturopathic Doctor and educator she helps people to identify underlying causes of chronic and acute digestive problems and related conditions. Sarah provides a nurturing and supportive environment to help her patients formulate an achievable and systematic plan for regaining health. She strives to clear up confusion about the sea of health information available and to simplify the healing process.

She uses clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and homeopathy to support each patient and some advanced laboratory testing and specialty diets (Specific Carbohydrate, FODMAPS, Paleo, GAPS, Hypo-Allergenic, Elimination) as part of diagnosis and treatment.

Naturopathic medicine is about treating the whole person and accounting for how one’s body works as a whole, composed of many interconnected parts. Although Sarah has a special area of focus she always pays close attention to all body systems, how they affect one another and any conditions that are contributing to ill health.

Ultimately Sarah’s real passion and focus lies in helping her patients to identify and work though whatever is blocking them from feeling their best.

Dr. Kamala Sivasankaran, ND runs a general family practice, often working with people who are experiencing anxiety, insomnia, hormonal concerns and digestive issues. She loves empowering patients through education and teaching them how to make wellness changes that can be sustained for a lifetime.

Initial consultations explore a detailed case history of all factors affecting your current health. This may include questions about energy, digestion, sleep, foods you eat, stress and your medical history, as well as some physical exams. Routine or specialized lab work and other tests may be suggested to gain an “insider’s look” at what’s really going on. If you have any relevant lab or imaging reports, you are welcome to bring them in as part of your consult. You’ll receive a treatment plan based on your unique situation, lifestyle needs and goals.

With a background in biology and health sciences, Kamala values a combination of both traditional and conventional approaches to medicine, prescribing natural therapies that work in tandem with whatever conventional treatment(s) you may be taking. Treatment plans can include therapies such as acupuncture, herbs, specific nutrition guidelines, rehabilitation exercises, natural supplements, hydrotherapy, counselling and more. Your plan is specifically designed and constantly tailored for you.
